What fits on one page
Each month shows the weekday initials and the day numbers on a grid that starts on the day you choose. Weekends are in a lighter color so the working weeks stand out. On Letter or A4 paper, about two thirds of the sheet holds the months and the rest is the list of holidays and your dates, in up to four columns. Turn the list off and the months grow to fill the page, which makes the numbers easier to read from across a room.
A one-page year is the right choice for planning ahead: seeing at a glance which holidays fall on a Monday or a Friday, choosing weeks for a vacation, or counting the weeks of a term. For writing appointments into each day, use a month on every page with the calendar maker or the year planner.
Years that do not start in January
Many organizations plan in a year that starts in another month. Set the first month to match and the page covers exactly that year.
| Year | Starts | Ends |
|---|---|---|
| US federal fiscal year | October 1 | September 30 |
| UK personal tax year | April 6 | April 5 |
| UK government financial year | April 1 | March 31 |
| Australian income year | July 1 | June 30 |
| US and UK school years | August or September | June or July |
The US federal fiscal year is named after the year it ends in: fiscal year 2027 runs from October 1, 2026 to September 30, 2027. For school years with breaks and terms, the school year calendar maker comes set up from August.
Marking periods across the year
Add a date with an end date for each period you want to see on the page, such as school terms, a project phase or a vacation. The days are shaded in the calendar’s light color and the period is listed once, on its first day. For quarters, add four spans, one for each quarter of your year; with a first month of October, the quarters start in October, January, April and July.
Questions
How are holidays and my dates shown on a one-page calendar?
The day numbers of holidays that are days off are bold and in the holiday color. Your own dates get a box around the day number, and spans such as a school break are shaded. With “List holidays and your dates under the months” ticked, every one of them is listed with its date below the months.
Can the year start in July or October?
Yes. Choose the first month, and the page shows the twelve months from there, titled with both years, for example “2026–2027”, and the exact span underneath.
What happens with 24 months?
Each page holds twelve months, so 24 months make two pages, and 18 months make one full page and one with six months.
Portrait or landscape?
Portrait gives three columns of four months, landscape four columns of three. Portrait leaves more room for the list underneath; landscape makes the months a little wider.
Why is the year listed with a dash, such as 2026–2027?
The title shows the years the twelve months fall in. A calendar from January to December shows a single year.
