    Setting up your calendar

Layout. “One month per page” is the classic wall or binder calendar, with a box for every day. “Whole year on one page” puts twelve small months on a single sheet, with your holidays and dates listed underneath. The year planner gives each month a row so that the same weekday lines up down the page, which suits holiday and leave planning. The family layout gives each person a column, and the birthday layout lists dates without weekdays so it can be used every year.

Months. The calendar can start in any month and run for 1 to 24 months. Calendars that start mid-year are common: a school year from August, a fiscal year from July or October, or an 18-month calendar from July to the end of the next year.

Week start. Weeks start on Sunday in the US and Canada and on Monday in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and most of Europe. Saturday is also offered, as used in several Middle Eastern countries. The maker picks a start for your region on your first visit; see week start by country.

Holidays. Choose your country, or your state, province or nation where holidays differ. Days off are shown in the holiday color; observances that are not days off, such as Mother’s Day, appear in gray when you tick “Also show observances”. When a holiday falls on a weekend and another day is given off instead, both days are shown with the official wording, such as “(observed)” in the US or “(substitute day)” in the UK.

Your dates. Add a date and what it is. Tick “Yearly” for a birthday or anniversary and it appears in every year of the calendar. Give an end date for anything that lasts several days, such as a vacation or a school break: the days are shaded and the name appears on the first day, and again at the start of a new month. You can paste many dates at once or import a calendar file (.ics) exported from Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook.

    Paper, margins and output

The calendar is drawn for the paper you choose, from A5 to Tabloid and 12 × 12 inches, with a 0.42 inch margin all round so that home printers do not cut anything off. The text size and the space for writing scale with the page: a Letter page in landscape gives day boxes about 1.4 inches wide.

Download PDF gives one file with every page, the best choice for printing at home or sending to a print shop. Print opens your browser’s print dialog with one calendar page per sheet. Save this page as an image gives a PNG of the page in the preview, for a phone wallpaper, a digital planner or a newsletter.

    Months that need six rows

A month view needs six rows of weeks when the month starts late in the week. Which months those are depends on the year and on the week start, which is why the maker sizes each month separately instead of leaving a blank row at the bottom of every page.

    2027January, May, OctoberMay, August
2028January, April, July, DecemberJanuary, July, October

In 2027, January starts on a Friday and has 31 days: with a Sunday start the first row holds only January 1 and 2, and the 31st falls on a Sunday in a sixth row.

    Questions

Does the calendar have a watermark or a logo on it?

No. The PDF, the printout and the image contain only your calendar. There is no logo, no web address and no watermark on any page.

Are my dates and photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The calendar is drawn in your browser. Your dates are kept in this browser so the calendar is still there when you come back, and photos are only read from your device while the page is open. None of it is sent to us.

Why are no holidays shown for some months?

Holidays are only shown for years whose dates have been checked against an official list. For the US and the UK that is 2026 to 2028; for Canada, Australia, Ireland and New Zealand it is 2026 and 2027. The maker tells you when part of your calendar falls outside those years. See holidays by country for the lists and their sources.

How do I make a calendar that starts in July or runs for 18 months?

Choose the first month and the number of months, from 1 to 24. A calendar from July 2026 to December 2027 is “July”, “2026” and “18”. For a school year, the school year calendar maker is set up for August to July.

Can I change the calendar after I download it?

Change the settings and download it again. The maker remembers your calendar in this browser, and “Copy a link to this calendar” gives you an address that opens it with every setting and date, so you can finish it on another device. Photos are not part of the link and must be chosen again.

Which printer setting should I use?

Print at 100%, called “Actual size” in most print dialogs, not “Fit to page” or “Shrink oversized pages”. The calendar keeps a 0.42 inch (10.6 mm) margin on every side, which home printers can print. More in the printing guide.

Can I get it as a Word or Excel file?

No. The maker gives you a PDF, a print view and a PNG image of a page. A PDF keeps the lines and text sharp at any size and prints the same on every computer.
